Canada’s housing market has been on a tear of late, with some suggesting it risks becoming a bubble.  There is little doubt that the CMHC’s growing role in the mortgage market has supported housing through the recession and subsequent recovery. The federal mortgage insurer has massively increased in size of late, abetted by the government’s insured-mortgage purchase program.
