MABE is an association of individuals with an interest in economics. The objectives of MABE are three fold:
- To bring together, in the Manitoba area, individuals interested in the field of economics.
- To provide regular meetings for discussion and the exchange of ideas on current economic problems, issues and achievements.
- To foster further education in the field of economics for its members.
Annual programming is developed to achieve the above objectives which include, a series of luncheons featuring a key note speaker with topics ranging from economics and business issues to public policy. There are also some plant tours that allow members and guests the opportunity to view the inside workings of Manitoba industry.
One of the most successful events hosted by MABE is the annual Outlook Conference. The Conference provides members and guests with an update on current economic issues in Manitoba, an analysis of key economic sectors and an opportunity to share ideas.
MABE is affiliated with the Canadian Association of Business Economics (CABE). MABE members automatically become associate members of CABE and benefit from the following services: Directory of Members - an annual directory of all national and associate members; CABE News - a quarterly newsletter with program information, calendar of events, new books, and articles of interest; Canadian Business Economics the Association's professional journal featuring analysis and commentary on economic issues; and the Annual Salary Survey - an annual profile on the occupational characteristics of economists working in Canada.
