Chris D. Ferris, Senior Grains Analyst, Canada
Based in Informa Economics’ Winnipeg office, Mr. Ferris is responsible for core Canadian market analysis, reporting and project work within the Canadian grains, oilseeds and special crops sectors. Prior to joining Informa Economics, Mr. Ferris was the market analyst for Latin America and the Caribbean with the Canadian Wheat Board, where he analyzed changes in commodity markets and the micro- and macro-economic environment of Latin America to identify marketing risks and opportunities. Mr. Ferris also acted as an internal consultant on numerous special projects, including a strategic marketing planning tool, customer segmentation, customer relationship management strategies and price databases. Prior to the Canadian Wheat Board, Mr. Ferris was a statistical analyst at MTS Allstream Inc. where he identified and designed predictive models, reports, and customer profiles to solve priority marketing problems. Prior to MTS Allstream, Mr. Ferris spent time as a research assistant with Proactive Information Services, Inc., designing and analyzing quantitative survey research. Mr. Ferris grew up on a grain and cattle farm and worked in the livestock trade before becoming an analyst. Mr. Ferris has a diploma in Business Information Systems from Herzing Career College. He received both his bachelor's (honors) and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Manitoba.

Craig Alexander holds a Master's degree in economics from the University of Toronto. He has thirteen years of experience in conducting economic analysis in the financial industry. Prior to joining the private sector, Craig spent four years as an economist at Statistics Canada.
In November 2004, Craig was promoted to Deputy Chief Economist for TD Bank Financial Group. In his current role, he travels across the United States and Canada speaking to TD clients and various business groups about economic trends and prospects. He is frequently quoted by the media on economic issues and writes reports on a wide array of economic and financial subjects. In addition to his role at TD Bank, Craig is also the current President of the Canadian Association for Business Economics.

John Hoicka – Biography
John Hoicka is a Senior Research and Policy Advisor with Colleges Ontario. He brings an economist’s perspective to describing how the economy is becoming more competitive, and how that in turn is affecting labour markets, and creating a need for more training and new corporate human resource policies. He also acts as the staff resource for Ontario’s Workforce Shortage Coalition.
Previously, he was Senior Manager, Industrial and Financial Policy Branch, Ontario Ministry of Finance, where he was responsible for analysis and coordination with line ministries and Cabinet Office to improve advice to government on strengthening business investment and job creation.
John is a member of the selection committee for the $10,000 Doug Purvis Memorial Prize awarded annually for a work of excellence relating to Canadian economic policy. He is a past president of both the Canadian Association of Business Economics and the Toronto Association for Business and Economics and co-edited Canadian Business Economics.
John was educated at the University of Waterloo (B. Math) and Columbia University (MA and ‘ABD’ in economics).
He has a wife, Kathleen, and four daughters.

John is a seasoned economist with over 25 years experience in economic analysis, forecasting and consulting to private and public sector organizations. Before joining the City of Edmonton in 2010 he was Director of Economics with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Toronto. Prior to this he held various positions with IHS Global Insight, Deloitte & Touche and Standard & Poor’s. John also served with the Canadian Foreign Service in Europe and Asia where he focused on trade development and investment promotion.
John appears regularly as an economic commentator on CBC radio and TV, Global TV, The Edmonton Journal and other various media outlets.
He is a member of the Canadian Association for Business Economics and the Economics Association of Northern Alberta where he serves on the Board. John also sits on The Emerging Issues Committee of the Government Financial Officers Association of Alberta.
John holds a BA (Honours), Economics from the University of Waterloo and Masters, Economics from the University of Toronto.

Peter Harrison is Associate Vice-President and Senior Consultant at CPCS. An economist by training, Peter has experience leading transportation strategy consulting engagements for clients across Canada. Peter also brings governmental and legislative transportation policy experience as a federal government economist and as a transportation and infrastructure policy advisor to two federal Liberal leaders.

Peter is a well-known professional land economist and forecaster and is Chief Economist at Altus Group and General Manager of Altus Group Economic Consulting. Widely quoted in the Canadian media, Mr. Norman is a frequent expert witness on economic matters and consults for private and public sector organizations across Canada, providing economic intelligence and strategic advice.
Mr. Norman is a fequent speaker on the topics of economic outlook (national, local), housing economics and markets, real estate economics and cycles, housing policy and infrastructure finance.
Mr. Norman earned a BA at Trent University and an MA at the University of Guelph, sits on the Executive Committee of the Toronto Association of Business and Economics, the Economic Research Committee of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association and is a member of the Association of Ontario Land Economists and a member of Lambda Alpha International, an Honourary Society for the Advancement of Land Economics. Peter lives with his wife and four children in Toronto.
