Craig Alexander
Vice President & Chief Economist
TD Bank Financial Group

Craig Alexander holds a Master's degree in economics from the University of Toronto. He has thirteen years of experience in conducting economic analysis in the financial industry. Prior to joining the private sector, Craig spent four years as an economist at Statistics Canada.

In November 2004, Craig was promoted to Deputy Chief Economist for TD Bank Financial Group. In his current role, he travels across the United States and Canada speaking to TD clients and various business groups about economic trends and prospects. He is frequently quoted by the media on economic issues and writes reports on a wide array of economic and financial subjects. In addition to his role at TD Bank, Craig is also the current President of the Canadian Association for Business Economics.

                                                                John Hoicka – Biography

June 2011

 

John Hoicka is a Senior Research and Policy Advisor with Colleges Ontario. He brings an economist’s perspective to describing how the economy is becoming more competitive, and how that in turn is affecting labour markets, and creating a need for more training and new corporate human resource policies. He also acts as the staff resource for Ontario’s Workforce Shortage Coalition.

 Previously, he was Senior Manager, Industrial and Financial Policy Branch, Ontario Ministry of Finance, where he was responsible for analysis and coordination with line ministries and Cabinet Office to improve advice to government on strengthening business investment and job creation.

 John is a member of the selection committee for the $10,000 Doug Purvis Memorial Prize awarded annually for a work of excellence relating to Canadian economic policy. He is a past president of both the Canadian Association of Business Economics and the Toronto Association for Business and Economics and co-edited Canadian Business Economics.

 John was educated at the University of Waterloo (B. Math) and Columbia University (MA and ‘ABD’ in economics).

 He has a wife, Kathleen, and four daughters.

John is a seasoned economist with over 25 years experience in economic analysis, forecasting and consulting to private and public sector organizations. Before joining the City of Edmonton in 2010 he was Director of Economics with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Toronto. Prior to this he held various positions with IHS Global Insight, Deloitte & Touche and Standard & Poor’s. John also served with the Canadian Foreign Service in Europe and Asia where he focused on trade development and investment promotion.

John appears regularly as an economic commentator on CBC radio and TV, Global TV, The Edmonton Journal and other various media outlets.

He is a member of the Canadian Association for Business Economics and the Economics Association of Northern Alberta where he serves on the Board. John also sits on The Emerging Issues Committee of the Government Financial Officers Association of Alberta.

John holds a BA (Honours), Economics from the University of Waterloo and Masters, Economics from the University of Toronto.

Peter Norman, MA  Chief Economist, Altus Group

Peter is a well-known professional land economist and forecaster and is Chief Economist at Altus Group and General Manager of Altus Group Economic Consulting. Widely quoted in the Canadian media, Mr. Norman is a frequent expert witness on economic matters and consults for private and public sector organizations across Canada, providing economic intelligence and strategic advice.

Mr. Norman is a fequent speaker on the topics of economic outlook (national, local), housing economics and markets, real estate economics and cycles, housing policy and infrastructure finance. 

Mr. Norman earned a BA at Trent University and an MA at the University of Guelph, sits on the Executive Committee of the Toronto Association of Business and Economics, the Economic Research Committee of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association and is a member of the Association of Ontario Land Economists and a member of Lambda Alpha International, an Honourary Society for the Advancement of Land Economics. In her executive career, Stacey has held leadership positions at Stuff2Digital where she is responsible for founding a successful start-up media consulting company emphasizing the effective integration of digital and offline strategies for marketing and advertising. Using web analytics; branding; content; project, program, campaign management; and tech-media innovation. Stacey also founded and led a successful e-learning company Piercey Educational Resources where she developed, marketed, and sold primary school educational products via e-commerce and online platforms.

Stacey obtained a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration from the Memorial University; and a Diploma in Accounting, Business, and Computer Applications from Eastern College. She is the currently the Liberal Party of Canada Chair National Women’s Liberal Commission Newfoundland Labrador. She was the BC Liberal Party MLA Candidate for Victoria-Swan Lake in the 2017 provincial election. She was a Citizenship Judge Candidate with the Government of Canada. She has served on boards and advisory councils including the Canadian Association for Business Economics; the Canadian Federation of University Women, and Toastmasters.

Stacey has been rightfully named 2017 Businesswoman of the Year by CV Magazine.
