The Atlantic Association of Applied Economists (AAAE) invites you to come and learn from and support four Atlantic economics students as they present their research on a variety of topics.

This annual AAAE event is an important opportunity to help mentor young economists – they benefit greatly from the experience and the feedback we provide. This event is free for members but space is limited so please register early. Full details provided below.

AAAE Student Panel 2017

WHEN: Friday, March 24, 2017, 12:00pm to 1:45pm

WHERE: Bank of Canada Regional Offices, 13th Floor, 1701 Hollis Street, Founders Square, Halifax

WHAT: Come enjoy some pizza as you listen to four young economics students from across the region share their research and discuss the relevance of their findings for Atlantic Canada. Their presentations will address the following questions: Are existing regulations of the payday loan industry optimal? What are the biggest barriers that prevent individuals from making choices that improve their health? What impacts will CETA have on Nova Scotia’s fisheries industry? And, to what extent do spillovers impact bond yields in different European countries?

Chantel Lewis (Crandall University): “Health Improvement Barriers in Canada”

Fiona McGuinty (Acadia University): “Economics Impacts of the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) on Fisheries in Nova Scotia”

Maria teNyenhuis (St. Francis Xavier University): “Spillovers in European Bond Yield Spreads”

COST: Members: $Free,  Non-Members: $10 (A light lunch will be provided. Note: There is no conference call option for this event.)
