The Economic Return on Ontario's Infrastructure Investment

Robin Somerville

President, Quanatitative Economic Decisions (QED) Inc.

The Centre for Spatial Economics (C4SE) recently prepared a report for the Ontario government titled: The Economic Benefit of Public Infrastructure Spending in Ontario. The report's analysis uses the C4SE’s provincial economic modeling system to estimate the economic benefits of the Province’s 10-year infrastructure plan and looks beyond the immediate spending multiplier impacts to focus on the long-term benefits to private business from investments in public infrastructure.

Robin Summerville

Robin Somerville is the President of QED Inc., a partner corporation of the Centre for Spatial Economics, with three decades of experience in economic analysis, modeling and forecasting.  Robin's recent assignments have included assessments of the private benefits of public infrastructure spending, the impact of trade policy on imports of Chinese steel and the domestic steel industry, and the impact of the potential closure of GM’s automotive plant in Oshawa.
