Mentoring & Professional Development Event

For Young Professionals, Recent Graduates and Students

at the Lieutenant’s Pump


Are you a young professional, student, or recent graduate interested in meeting experienced economics professionals working in the National Capital Region? The Ottawa Economics Association (OEA), with funding support from the Canadian Association for Business Economics (CABE), is pleased to offer you a Mentoring & Professional Development Event on October 25, 2017.

This event will give you an opportunity to connect with multiple economics professionals during short group conversations, allowing you build your network and ask questions about working in an economics profession or career development.

Event Information

Date:               Wednesday, October 25, 2017

Time:               5:30pm – 8:00pm

Location:        Lieutenant’s Pump (361 Elgin St, Ottawa), Gallery Room

Cost:               $10 (includes HST, one drink ticket and light snacks)



Registration is closed as capacity for this event has been reached. In case of no-shows, limited spots may be available at the door.



5:30pm-6:00pm: Registration and Networking

6:00pm-6:10pm: Opening Remarks

6:10pm-7:30pm: Speed Mentoring Sessions

7:30pm-8:00pm: Closing Remarks and Networking (Light snacks will be provided)



Each dedicated table will host one or two economics professionals.  In small groups of three to five, mentees will spend approximately 15 minutes per table and then rotate to another table. The conversations will be informal to provide ample opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion. Some sample or ‘ice-breaker’ questions will be available at the tables, and mentees are encouraged to come prepared with their own work- or career-related questions.




The OEA may carry out photography and/or video recording during the event, which may feature attendees. By attending this event, you waive the right to inspect and approve such images and agree that the OEA may use such images in perpetuity, in any promotional, advertising or publicity material in any format whatsoever and that copyright in these materials rests with the OEA.
