The Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR) focuses on education and research about harm reduction associated with water damage, extreme wind, urban earthquake, wildfires near the urban interface, and hail. Mitigation efforts include changes to the urban environment, buildings and the appropriate use of insurance to finance risk. Our Speaker – Paul Kovacs
Since 1996 Paul has been a contributing author to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the world's leading forum for the study of climate issues. The Panel won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize "for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change". He is Canada’s leading authority on insurance and climate change and has been a contributing author to numerous international and Canadian reports on reducing the risk of loss from earthquakes, flood and severe wind. Paul has worked in private industry, the public sector and academia for more than 35 years. He is Co-Chair of the Infrastructure and Housing Working Group of Canada’s Adaptation Platform. He is Co-Chair of the Science and Technology Working Group of Canada’s Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction. LogisticsThe webinar will be delivered using WebEx technology. This requires that you have Java enabled on your computer and Internet access. Slides will be made available after the presentation. Sound will be available through a phoneline (recommended) and through the computer (mute your computer if using the phone). Questions can be posted through the WebEx Chat. Login instructions will be sent before the event to all registered subscribers. You are welcome to have multiple persons attend a session at your organization using one registration.
