Anchoring Expectations: Canada's Approach to Price Stability Lawrence Schembri, Crippling bouts of spiralling price increases and mortgage rates were once a recurrent feature of the Canadian economy. But since the adoption by the Bank of Canada in 1991 of inflation-targeting monetary policy, inflation has been well contained at close to 2 per cent. Deputy Governor Lawrence Schembri will discuss why the policy has been so successful and how the Bank of Canada is ensuring that inflation remains on target. To find out more about price stability and Canadian monetary policy, please join us for a MABE luncheon presentation by the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada, Lawrence Schembri.
