MABE Luncheon - The Transformation of Advanced Manufacturing in Manitoba
The Transformation of Advanced Manufacturing in Manitoba
Bob Hastings, CEO WestCaRD
Industry 4.0 and Advanced Manufacturing are terms used to describe the transformation of manufacturing which has taken hold since 2010. Key enabling technologies include: additive manufacturing, augmented reality, autonomous robots, big data and analytics, the cloud, cybersecurity, horizontal and vertical system integration, the Internet of Things (IoT), and simulation.
Advanced manufacturing is Manitoba’s largest industrial sector, with diverse sub-segments: including food, transportation equipment, machinery, chemicals, and fabricated metals. Bob’s presentation will talk about Industry 4.0 and some of the implications for Manitoba manufacturing, education and training.
