You are invited to attend the Atlantic Association of Applied Economists (AAAE)'s Annual General Meeting followed by a presentation

by Shelley Phipps and Peter Burton “The Economic Well-Being of Canadian Children”

WHO: Shelley Phipps and Peter Burton, Professors, Department of Economics, Dalhousie University

Shelley Phipps is the Maxwell Professor of Economics at Dalhousie University.  Her research focuses on the health and well-being of Canadian children, international comparisons of social policy, and the economic vulnerability of Canadian families with children.

Peter Burton is a Professor of Economics at Dalhousie University.  His research has included work on environmental decision-making, the economic vulnerability of Canadian families with children in terms of time as well as money and on families of children with disabilities. 

WHAT: The Economic Well-Being of Canadian Children

The presentation will provide a statistical portrait of changes over time and differences across provinces in the economic well-being of Canadian children, giving particular emphasis to trends in Atlantic Canadian provinces.  These trends, both provincial and national, will also be compared with what has happened in similarly affluent countries that have adopted different approaches to tax/benefit policy.

AGM: 11:30am-noon; Featured presentation: 12:15pm - 1:30pm (Atlantic Daylight Time)

WHERE: Bank of Canada regional office, 1701 Hollis St. (Founders Square), 13th Floor, Halifax, Nova Scotia

COST: Members: $10, Non-Members: $20 (A light lunch will be provided)

CONFERENCE CALL: A Skype and/or teleconference call option is available for those living outside of Halifax. The cost is the same as for in-person attendance.

REGISTRATION: Seating is limited and spaces will be reserved until we reach capacity. Visit the CABE Store to register for this event. You must register no later than end of day Wednesday 12th September. 

Refunds cannot be provided for cancellations and individuals seeking to register after September 12th will be charged a late registration fee of $20. Late registration can be made at the CABE store.
