Ontario's Innovation Economy: Applying Network Analysis Principles to Ontario's Investment Network

This session will offer insight into preliminary research which applies network analysis to glean a deeper understanding about how investors and ventures interact to form Ontario’s investment network.
Understanding the complex relationship between investors and ventures in Ontario is vital to developing proactive, coherent policy that supports the innovation ecosystem. Interactions between these groups can be difficult to model and understand using traditional forms of analysis, but are well suited to network analysis, which focuses on the relationships between actors, instead of simply the actors themselves.

A member of the Innovation Economy stream, Kie Gouveia works to uncover insights about the innovation ecosystem in Canada through applied analytics and research. Currently, Kie is working on projects pertaining to venture performance in Ontario and the impact of cleantech ventures throughout Canada. In addition to his work at MaRS, Kie spearheads analytics for a digital agency based in Kitchener-Waterloo.
