How have recent trade developments impacted the Bank of Canada's economic outlook?  Have inflationary pressures eased or grown in recent months? How have levels of business investment and household debt evolved since the previous Monetary Policy Report?  Is the economy operating close to capacity?  What is the outlook for economic growth, and what are the main risks to that outlook?

These and other questions are addressed in the quarterly Monetary Policy Report to be released on October 30th, setting out the factors considered by the Bank in arriving at its interest rate decision and bias.

Join us to hear a detailed overview of the Bank's policies and strategies, plus a look at the current economic climate and its implications for inflation.

Laurent Martin was appointed Senior Policy Advisor of the Canadian Economic Analysis Department (CEA) in December 2017, and is part of the leadership team that directs and manages the department. He leads CEA’s contribution to the Bank of Canada’s Monetary Policy Report (MPR) and conducts research and analysis on current economic issues relevant to the Bank’s monetary policy objectives.

He has expertise in macroeconomic analysis, economic conditions and forecasting, and public finance.
