History in the Making: Costing Proposals

for the 2019 General Election

 

For the first time in Canadian history, political parties were able to have the financial cost of their electoral proposals estimated by an independent and non-partisan Officer of Parliament. Yves Giroux, Canada’s Parliamentary Budget Officer, will discuss his experience in undertaking this historic exercise. Mr. Giroux will also discuss his latest Economic and Fiscal Outlook.

Yves Giroux is the Parliamentary Budget Officer. Mr. Giroux has in-depth tax, fiscal and financial, and social policy knowledge and expertise. For more than 20 years, he has been closely involved in the federal budget process in various capacities and is highly regarded as an expert on federal budget making and the Government’s expenditure system.
