Keynote Speaker

Perceived Inflation and Reality: Understanding the Difference

Lawrence Schembri
Deputy Governor, Bank of Canada

Aug. 25, 1:30pm ET

Surveys regularly find that the consumers’ perception of inflation is higher than officially reported CPI inflation. This difference has become more prominent during the COVID-19 containment period. In his address to CABE, Deputy Governor Lawrence Schembri will explore explanations of this difference, drawing from ongoing collaborative research by Bank of Canada and Statistics Canada. He will also speak to the implications of these findings for the conduct of monetary policy.
CABE is pleased to present Lawrence Schembri as our keynote speaker for our 2020 virtual conference.  Registration for this session is restricted to and free for National and Local members. Registered guests from CABE will have the opportunity to submit questions.
