            * Senior Financial Analyst / Senior Economist

 

Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Senior Financial Analyst/ Senior Economist to support the needs of the property and casualty (P&C) insurance companies senior finance leaders on issues related to capital, accounting and financial regulation policy initiatives.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage all aspects of meetings and projects related to capital, accounting and financial regulation policy initiatives affecting P&C insurers
  • Liaise with regulators and industry’s senior finance staff to gain a thorough understanding of the capital framework and related regulatory matters, IFRS 17 or other accounting changes and their implications on the industry operations and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare meeting agendas, background papers, briefing notes, commentary and presentations on finance-related issues
  • Prepare industry submissions

 

QUALIFICATIONS   

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in economic or financial analysis and a master’s degree in economics/related discipline or an MBA. Insurance industry experience, knowledge and understanding of capital markets, a professional designation in accounting or a CFA designation are considered assets.

In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the following:

  • Sound understanding of economic/financial/accounting theory and methods.
  • Experience in conducting analysis on financial sector issues.
  • Proven ability to gather data, analyze and make recommendations.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and evidence of teamwork.
  • Excellent written, communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Discretion in working with sensitive or proprietary information.
  • Demonstrated self-direction, judgment, discretion and initiative.
  • Effective administrative and organizational skills.
